Impact Blinds offers many different window covering options. We've tried to make ordering our products easy through our intuitive ordering process, but there are some basics you should know before coming to your final decision.
Window Blinds have slats. A typical choice is a horizontal blind, with horizontal slats, for windows or a vertical blind, with vertical slats, for large windows or patio doors. Window blinds have two ways of opening: opening the slats allows you to see your view while still maintaining some privacy and light filtering; or you can open the blinds to see your full view.
Window Shades are typically made of fabric or woven wood and can be sheer, light filtering (lets in light), room darkening (lets in some light), or blackout (lets in no light). You can have them fully opened, partially opened, or completely closed.
With the recent advances in technology, there is very little functional difference between window blinds and window shades. It really depends on your personal preference and use of the window covering. Some of the benefits of each are:

Before you start looking at the different types of window coverings, ask yourself these questions:
- Do you want window blinds, vertical blinds or window shades?
- Consider the purpose of your blinds: How much light do you want to block when the blinds are closed? Is adding privacy important to you? Do you want to maintain the view from your window, or are you open to blocking the view to reduce the light or to add privacy?
- Consider your room décor. All of our blinds and shades come in many different styles and colors.
- And last, consider your budget. How many windows do you need to cover, how big are they, and how much can you afford to spend? Impact Blinds offers all of our window treatments at discount prices, so you can be sure that you're getting a great deal.
