What are you looking to accomplish with your dining room window covering? Do you want to add privacy, filter light, or add a touch of style to your window?
Add Privacy
You can add privacy to your window in many ways. Window blinds will let you adjust the amount of light in your room. You can even choose to get routeless window blinds (no holes) for more privacy. Or, choose any of our window shades that can add privacy when fully extended.
Filter Light
Sheer window shades can add a great atmosphere to any dining room. These gently filter the light and usually give the room a soft glow from the window. These are great to slightly reduce the amount of light coming through the window.
You may want to consider room darkening window blinds, which will give you full control over the amount of light that comes in through the window and, when closed, will block out a good amount of the light. We also have room darkening window shades that block out much of the light, but can only be opened or closed.
Add Style
If your dining room is more formal, consider stained wood blinds, stained faux wood blinds, darker colored roman shades, and pleated shades. These will all lend a formal feel to your room. You can also consider upgrading your valance to a larger size or hanging just a valance or cornice board.
Lighter stained wood blinds & faux wood blinds and painted wood blinds & faux wood blinds lend to a more casual feeling in any dining room. Roman shades, valances, and cornices in lighter colors and less “formal” patterns also can add a casual feel. And, if you choose the lighter colored pleated shades your dining room will definitely say “casual & airy.”
You can get a more contemporary look with painted 2 inch to 3 inch faux wood blinds, 2 inch aluminum blinds, or roman shades with straight lines and less traditional patterns. Contemporary design is typically less colorful, so consider choosing neutrals or staying in the same color family (blues, reds, etc.).
Modern style, on the other hand, is significantly more colorful. Consider getting any window covering in a bright color or aluminum blinds in a bright color with 2 inch slats (trust me, it will look great). Stay away from the more classic wood blinds or faux wood blinds if you really want to make a statement (although these can blend into the room very nicely).
